Project Narrative
Project Narrative:Local Grown Salads is an Ag-Tech start up that is expected to produce up to 1,500,000 pounds of salads, leafy greens, veggies, herbs, and berries on an annual basis. It is designed to save the planet’s arable land, reduce the carbon implications of transporting our foods, and provide stable, reliable and safe product on a year round basis to a variety of users and consumers. The Founder, Zale Tabakman, and I are looking for strategic partners for our first urban Indoor Vertical Farm, which we believe could be the start of a social revolution by providing fresh produce to an urban population, eliminate food deserts, and reduce high transportation costs when produce travels from farm to table.
This is a long term investment in a neighborhood and community. We are looking at sites within qualified opportunity zones, which will offer capital gains tax advantages to investors who participate for at least a 10-year period. The farm can be located in any building containing 15,000 square feet with a 14' ceiling; therefore, we can reuse most urban industrial buildings that are today deemed obsolete.
Each farm will employ 15 - 20 people, who will be trained as indoor farmers (farm manager, produce harvester, produce cleaner, produce sorter, and produce packager). Our patent pending technology demonstrates how a new company can produce the best quality product at the best price and still be incredibly sustainable and profitable.
